It’s June! With the cool May (frost on May 31) it’s not too late to get your garden growing! We still have a nice selection of beautiful stocky tomato transplants, Tidy Treat patio tomatoes, Quick Snack patio cucumbers, annual and perennial herbs, dahlias, and dwarf sunflowers that you can purchase at the farm store now through the honor system, at our booth at the Troy Farmers Market on Saturdays, and available for pick up by sending us an order via email through the “Contact” tab above.
Food crops available this week include the first cucumbers of the year (yay!), asparagus, baby lettuce, giant heads of escarole, and a few heads of luscious lettuce. A minimal number of strawberries are available mid-week. Since we only grow ever-bearing strawberries now, June and July are their baby crop time. They should hit their stride in late-July/early August and then we have them throughout the fall. Place an order early in the week for strawberries and we will do what we can to fill your order.
Perennial flowers are also available now! The penstemon, canna lilies, and lupines are attracting hummingbirds and butterflies every day as are the delightful “Dalmation Peach” foxglove. The hibiscus and coreopsis will be blooming soon so jazz up your garden beds with perennials chosen for beauty, hardiness, and food for hummingbirds, butterflies, and bees.
If you are looking for ExcludeNet insect exclusion netting for your large garden or as a commercial grower, click on the “Berry Netting” tab above or send us an email through the “Contact” tab above. We have a good supply of 6.5’ and 13’ wide x 300+ feet long rolls of SWD/Cucumber Beetle exclusion netting available now in June 2026
We are the first farm in the country to cover our entire blueberry and raspberry plantings with a fine mesh netting to exclude a tiny invasive insect that would ruin our crops or require us to spray every 5-7 days. Dale-Ila is the creator of this innovative technique and is teaching growers throughout the country that this technique works while providing pesticide-free berries to you!
Thank you for your support this year!
